MANAGING WORK-RELATED STRESS AND EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORKPLACE
MANAGING WORK-RELATED STRESS AND EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORKPLACE
Managing
work-related stress is very important for each and every company. If employees
are stressed this will negatively affect the company’s performance and in the
long run, they will be resigning from the company.
Hence as a good HR-practicing company, they should be able to introduce proper mechanisms to reduce the stress level of the employees Armstrong, M. (2006). To reduce the stress related to the employee’s company should be able to provide a satisfactory workload for the employees. There will be a possible risk of stress arising due to the personal interest of the managers of the company. There will be an unethical sexual influence on the low-level employees. Hence the company should be able to introduce and implement common rules for the staff. There should not be any influence on the employees for personal interest. A Code of ethics is very important for the employees of the organization. Hence company should be able to able to introduce and educate employees on ethics. If all employees have ethical behavior, there will be no person who gets stressed due to the other employee. Roles and responsibilities of the job should be fairly adequate for the particular designation.
The company should be able to get employees’ comments on a regular basis to measure their satisfaction level. Sometimes employees may need support from other for the completion of task. Hence there should be mutual support among the employees together with teamwork to increase the performance level. If a company is considering any changes in the company this will be stressful for the employees Armstrong, M. (2006). Therefore, such kind of situation HR department should handle carefully to convince the advantages of change management. Also, they are supposed to do the required training for the new system to reduce their stress level. There should be control of all employees to immediate supervisor in relation to their job roles and responsibilities.
Through this experience and also through my curriculum learning I was able to identify that as a company, it is very important to get the action for employee well-being and continue to safeguard employees in the organization. In the complex business environment employees have to face a lot of job-related stress and this will adversely affect the performance of the company.
Employees will get more stress due to the pressure of their immediate supervisor. In some companies, employees have to report few managers, and this will really create a conflict situation inside the company. It is very important for a company to create an organizational structure, and this will be much important for all employees to get an idea about and will increase the transparency in relation to the duties and responsibilities S., & MacMillan, I. C. (1984). Sometimes employees of the company will stress due to the immediate supervisor, and this adversely affects the performance of the company Stahl, G., & Crushed, A. (2000). Therefore, it is very important to get the employee’s feedback regular basis regarding job-related issues and this will help to create a friendly formal culture in the organization. Also, it is very important to arrange stress-release programs and activities for the employees. As an example, in the company, insiders arrange small game items and employees can enjoy those when necessary. This will help to reduce the stress level of the employee. Top management of the company has the responsibility to create a good working environment for the staff will less stress levels. This will be important to increase the motivation and satisfaction of the employees and same time productivity of the company will increase and staff turnover will reduce.

Different topic Insaff, Stress is affected by different factors such as age, designation, work load, working hours, workplace atmosphere etc. It’s also revealed from studies that young employees experience more stress instead of old employees. In the study of levels of stress by Eric S. Parilla, (2012), it revealed that job stress not at affected by personal character but job position.
ReplyDeleteNoted your your concern , further i just want to mentioned An employee's mental and physical health will be severely harmed and damaged by a stressful atmosphere. Stressful situation can occur when an employee realize that requirement of a situation is larger than what they can handle and when those situations continue for longer period. (Selye, 2006).
DeleteAgreed with you Inshaff & Furthermore, Workplace factors linked to stress and health risks can be divided into two categories: those related to work content and those related to the social and organizational context of work. Long hours, work overload, time pressure, difficult or complex tasks, a lack of breaks, a lack of variety, and poor physical working conditions are all inherent in the job (Michie, 2002)
ReplyDeleteYes , Correct When it Comes to Work Stress an employee is unable to handle the demands of his daily work, occupational stress is likely to result. In today's business world, stress can be primarily caused by poorly managed work organizations, poorly managed work designs, poor leadership and management, poor working conditions, and competitive work cultures.(Mead, 2001). According to Mead (2001) workload is the main source of employees’ occupational stress.
